Group14 is tirelessly working to help the world transition away from fossil fuel-based energy sources and inefficient batteries through the development of new lithium battery technologies that dramatically increase energy density and radically improve charge times.
Our flagship product, SCC55™, is a stable silicon-carbon composite anode with up to five times the capacity of graphite (current anode materials) and affords up to 50% more energy density than conventional graphite for lithium battery anodes. Its unique hard carbon-based scaffolding keeps silicon in the most ideal form: amorphous, nano-sized, and carbon-encased. This cutting edge silicon-based battery technology will help usher in the electric vehicle era as well as an array of improved technologies in consumer electronics, grid storage, aerospace, and mobility.
SCC55™ is optimized to blend with and/or fully replace incumbent graphites as a drop-in ready solution for today’s lithium-silicon batteries and tomorrow’s solid-state batteries powering lithium-silicon batteries across a spectrum of vehicles and consumer products.

SCC55™ is an elegant and stable combination of silicon and carbon that enables the next generation of lithium-silicon and solid state batteries. Our material was designed to be easy to use, high-performing, and manufactured at commercial scale.
SCC55™ is manufactured by a two-step process that we call Scaffold Prime™. And with this process, we’re able to produce our material, SCC55™, and scale it rapidly, which we do right here at our Battery Active Materials, or BAM factory, in Woodinville, Washington. Our material enables batteries—and the devices powered by those batteries—to last longer and charge faster.
If you look at the lithium-ion battery industry, there’s been incremental improvements on the order of maybe a few percent per year, and that’s fantastic. But to get big improvements, you need many, many years. So with SCC55™, we can increase the energy density of the lithium ion battery up to 50% and transform it into a lithium-silicon battery. So, now an improvement that would have taken decades—we can have that improvement today with SCC55™.
