Field Application Engineer (Mandarin Speaker)
As a Field Applications Engineer (Mandarin Speaker), you will report to the Director of Technical Program Management. You are the link between R&D, product development, customers, and business development team. Your goal is to generate technical solutions and successfully communicate them with the customer. Curiosity is key and you will be required to provide expert analysis and support to the world’s leading battery scientists, enabling integration of our industry defining silicon-carbon composite active material into next generation battery technology.
This requires in-depth knowledge of the product, manufacturing, and lithium ion (Li-ion) batteries: You will become an expert in the details from material introduction to implementation, shepherding early-stage programs into qualification and providing technical support as needed to assigned customers. You will have daily contact with internal stakeholders and customers and must have excellent communication skills.
The Field Application Engineer will be responsible for engaging with Group14 customers, managing the support of product evaluations of Group14’s products. The candidate will assist, support, and advocate for customers in all phases of customer development and implementation in lithium-ion battery systems. To this end, the candidate will collaborate cross-functionally with the engineering, R&D, quality, operations, and business teams. Further responsibilities include supporting sales and marketing activities. Some domestic and international travel (Asia and Europe) will be required.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
Be a customer “go to” product expert and support person for our silicon-based materials for Li-ion batteries.
You will be a subject matter expert in:
Properties of Li-ion battery materials.
Electrochemistry of Li-ion battery materials.
Evaluation and testing of Li-ion/silicon anode materials.
Customer qualification processes and activities.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
M.S. or PhD in Material Science and Engineering, Electrochemistry, Battery Science or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
Business and technical proficiency in speaking Mandarin
Knowledge of energy storage devices and device components.
Experience troubleshooting Li-ion battery failure mode analysis
Understanding of typical lithium-ion battery electrochemical test methods and analysis.
Ability to clearly present results and make technical recommendations to customer and management.
3+ years of sales and customer support experience.
Experience integrating new products into complex chemical systems.
Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced, self-directed entrepreneurial environment.
The annual base salary range for this position is $100,000 – $150,000. All positions come with a bonus plan and company stock options. Senior Production Engineer
The Senior Production Engineer is responsible for supporting the design, installation, commissioning, and operation of a new Battery Active Material (BAM) Factory. This position will join the engineering team tasked with the design and construction of the world’s largest production facility of next generation lithium silicon anode materials. The selected candidate will be assigned a unit operation area of responsibility to support after completion of commissioning. The Senior Production Engineer will serve as a mentor to help train and develop junior level engineering staff. There will be opportunities to travel to existing facilities to gain real experience, knowledge, and best practices for implementation in Moses Lake.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
Become the subject matter expert for one of four major process areas.
Assist in design, construction, and commissioning of process equipment.
Work with the R&D team to develop solutions to problems and improve production throughput, cost, product quality and process safety.
Collect and evaluate data in order to plan experiments to modify and improve processes.
Develop and contribute manufacturing best practices as well as assist in manufacturing database design/management.
Collaborate with Research and Development to ensure the manufacturability of new products and processes.
Collaborate with the maintenance/facilities personnel to improve equipment reliability.
Resolve technical issues with equipment and processes to keep the production online.
Organize and create elements for the process safety management (PSM) program.
Develop procedures to assure safe and correct operation of equipment from day one.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
8+ years of chemical, industrial, or design experience.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to successfully solve problems.
Must have demonstrated organizational skills and be detail-oriented.
Must have experience in materials production and/or chemical processing.
Experience in a process safety management or risk management program covered facility.

Prior experience at both large and start-up companies.
Experience with thermal processing equipment or bulk powders processing.

Senior Milling Process Engineer
The Senior Milling Process Engineer is responsible to support the commissioning, operations, and troubleshooting of new battery materials processing equipment, specifically powder processing equipment. This individual will primarily work with powder processing/handling equipment including Crushing, Milling, Dust Collection, Screening, and Solids Handling. Duties will include supporting operation of equipment, process improvements, and creation of novel solids handling techniques.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
Carry out process development studies towards scale up and commercialization of materials and process.
Assist in design, construction, and commissioning of new process and utility equipment.
Develop operating procedures and develop understanding of process conditions window to determine and control powder or product properties; including particle size distribution, solids handling, and milling processes.
Work with the R&D team to develop solutions to problems and improving production throughput, cost, product quality and process safety.
Collect and evaluate data in order to understand process conditions and awareness for scale up to manufacturing scale operations.
Collaborate with Operations to identify opportunities for continuous improvement as well as development of standard operating procedure.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or other engineering degree with relevant experience.
10+ years’ experience in manufacturing environment with powder handling and/or bulk solids processes.
Experience with pneumatic handling equipment including dust collectors, cyclones, and other pneumatic conveyance equipment.

Understands operation of various powder processing unit operations including milling technologies, screening/sieving, classifiers, and dust collectors.
Powder characterization techniques including: particle size distribution, surface area, and pore volume.

Senior Manager, Central Engineering
The Senior Manager, Central Engineering is a seasoned, accomplished manager ready and enthused to lead a world-class engineering group. The Central Engineering Manager has a keen eye for detail from the initial idea to drawings to fruition. This role requires excellent leadership skills in managing staff of different disciplines to produce results in a timely manner. This important role serves to manage the team responsible for ensuring all engineering records, drawings and equipment to conform to industry, regulatory and Group14 standards.

Lead the central engineering team that is responsible for Group14 global engineering standards, documentation, mechanical integrity, and drafting departments
Implement systems and processes for ensuring compliance with documentation standards across Group14’s global operations
Communicate systems and processes effectively to assist with implementation and compliance
Establish and maintain mechanical integrity programs
Up to 20% travel required to support global operations
Providing guidance regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
Experience with PSM or RMP Facilities.
10+ years of engineering and 5+ years of team leadership experience in chemical or materials manufacturing.
Degree in engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical or similar) or technical discipline.
Experience managing capital projects.
Demonstrated leadership experience guiding engineering, manufacturing, and/or technical teams.
Ability to lead a central engineering team with direct reports in different locations and time zones.
Familiarity with industry standards or codes such as ASME, ANSI, NEC, API, ISA, IEEE, PIP, NFPA, CGA, IFC, IBC, etc.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to communicate complex standards and policies to a global organization.
