Our company goal has always been to elevate all batteries: lithium-silicon, solid state, lithium-air, & beyond. We began our journey to elevating all batteries by first solving the challenge of harnessing the power of silicon with our flagship silicon-carbon composite anode material, SCC55™. We achieved this breakthrough with the invention of Scaffold Prime™, our two-step process for building nanocomposite battery materials at industrial scale.
We perfected the scaffold and it unlocks our entire roadmap. No matter the battery platform, our scaffold technology will always deliver the most optimal combination of high energy density, stability, and fast-charging for any electrification use case at scale. Our company is set to enhance the value proposition of energy storage well into the future of the battery.

We’re really at the cusp of this Cambrian explosion, if you will, of different technologies. When you think about it, we live in such a remarkable age that we can carry in our pocket not just a phone, but a computer, a flashlight, [it’s] amazing [the] things that you can do in such a small space, and it’s all powered by that battery in your phone.
We really are trying to help elevate all batteries regardless of what the application is, whether it’s consumer electronics or automotive applications. I’d like to think of a future where we can have the high energy density and also have very rapid charging.
So, imagine you’re on the freeway and you could have inductive charging at a distance. Imagine just slowing down to charge your car and instead of a toll booth, it’s a charging booth that you drive through. We live in a remarkable day today with the technologies that are all powered by the battery. And at Group14, we want to continue that acceleration of what we can do. We want to elevate all batteries. And so we’re focusing not just today with our SCC55 to transform Lithium-ion batteries to Lithium-silicon batteries, but also power tomorrow’s batteries, whether it’s solid state or even beyond.
There’s a lot of satisfaction working in this industry to help make better batteries. One experience in particular that really sticks with me is [when] we were talking to one of our consumer electronics company partners, and one of their engineers said, “Wow, your material can really do things that we haven’t been able to imagine before.” With that kind of energy density and that kind of cycle life, they’re already starting to think of new applications for the devices that they couldn’t even imagine they could do before. We live in an age right now where battery technologies are developing at a remarkable pace and Group14 is right in there helping to accelerate the rate of those battery technologies.
